ENTRY REQUIREMENTS INTO DIPLOMA IN INSURANCE
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS INTO B.SC BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
In addition to meeting the minimum entry requirements of the University,
candidates must submit originals and two photocopies of their certificates or
result slips. Moreover, birth certificates and that of state of origin or local
government declaration are to be submitted.
(1) GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
(i) Five relevant credits in SSCE, SC, GCE O/L or equivalent
obtained at not more than two sittings.
(ii) Two A/L passes plus three O/L credits in 3 other subjects at
not more than 2 sittings. Or, three A/L passes plus two O/L
credits in 2 other subjects at not more than two sittings.
(iii) Non-Direct Entry Applicants must write the Universities
Matriculation Examination (UME) and attain an acceptable
standard in the use of English (compulsory) and three other
subjects relevant to the proposed course of study as set out in
the JAMB Brochure.
(iv) Direct Entry Applicants with one of the following qualifications
may be considered for admission:
- A minimum of five subjects passed at not more than two
sittings with at least two at the principal or advanced

level of GCE or IJMB and the others, at credit level of
the SSCE/GCE O/L.
- Two passes at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge
Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal
Examination.
- A.B.U. Diploma with merit or Lower Credit grade including
five O/L Credits in SSCE/GCE equivalent
SPECIFIC
DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
(i) All UME candidates into the department must obtain Five Credits
including English, Mathematics and Economics at SSCE/NECO/SC
or GCE O/L.
(ii) Direct Entry Candidates must have IJMB, A/L GCE University
requirement in the relevant subjects in addition to obtaining the
five credits SSCE/NECO/SC or GCE O/L requirement A.B.U.
Diplomas in Insurance, Accounting, Banking and Finance are also
considered.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
The department offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Business Administration
Degree and has the following areas of specialization: Actuarial Science,
Banking and Finance, Management and Marketing. Each of these areas of
specialization has specific minimum total credit units requirement to proceed
to next level and final year graduation. The following table represents the
total credit units requirement for each succeeding level and final year
graduation.
